India’s Solar Energy Corporation (SECI) has announced the results of its seventh green ammonia auction under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) scheme, awarding renewables developer ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd a ten-year contract to supply Coromandel International with 50,000 tonnes of renewable ammonia annually. The deal, priced at ₹51.89 ($0.62) per kilogram, will supply Coromandel’s fertiliser facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

This outcome continues the downward trend in India’s green ammonia auctions, where discovered prices have now ranged between ₹55.75 and ₹50.75/kg. The lowest bid to date — ₹50.75/kg by Jakson Green — was also to supply Coromandel, though at a much larger volume of 85,000 tonnes per year for its Kakinada site. Industry analysts note the latest result underscores growing cost compression in India’s emerging green ammonia sector, suggesting a market now stabilising at internationally competitive price points.

Officials from SECI emphasised the importance of its e-reverse bidding platform, supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Department of Fertilizers, in driving affordability and adoption. “Each round is sharpening benchmarks, strengthening confidence, and reaffirming that green ammonia is on track to become affordable, scalable, and central to industrial decarbonisation,” SECI stated. For ACME and Coromandel, the deal represents another step in aligning India’s fertiliser production with the country’s long-term hydrogen economy strategy.
