Mantle8 Raises $36 Million to Scale Natural Hydrogen Exploration Platform
13 May 2026CertifHy and Hydrogen Europe are teaming up in a strategic partnership to provide Hydrogen Europe’s members and the wider hydrogen community with targeted training on Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) certification, built on a well-established programme developed over the past two years, equipping stakeholders with the knowledge needed to understand and implement RFNBO requirements in practice.
The collaboration combines CertifHy’s specialised expertise in hydrogen certification with Hydrogen Europe’s broad industry network to help stakeholders better understand and navigate the requirements for RFNBO certification under the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) and its Delegated Acts. This initiative supports the shared goal of both organisations to accelerate the adoption of clean hydrogen and build a sustainable, carbon-neutral economy in Europe.
Aligning missions for a carbon-neutral future
Hydrogen Europe, representing over 600 members across the entire hydrogen and fuel cell value chain, works to enable clean hydrogen as a reliable energy carrier for Europe’s net-zero economy and to be the united voice of the industry. CertifHy, initially supported by funding from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, brings deep technical expertise in certification that enhances transparency and market confidence.
Through this partnership, both organisations combine their strengths – Hydrogen Europe’s industry leadership and CertifHy’s practical certification knowledge – to deliver education that helps stakeholders move from uncertainty to confidence in RFNBO compliance.
Addressing real challenges
Many economic operators recognise that RFNBO certification is essential for EU market access, yet they often struggle to know where to start and which elements matter most in practice. The training offers a clear, structured entry point by providing:
- A practical understanding of how the RED II framework, its Delegated Acts, and audits interconnect.
- Clarity on what certification bodies verify and what evidence is expected.
- A shared vocabulary and internal knowledge base across technical, regulatory, and commercial teams.
What participants will gain
After completing the programme, participants will be better equipped to:
- Discuss RFNBO compliance confidently with auditors and business partners.
- Anticipate design and contracting choices that have the greatest impact on certification outcomes.
- Create effective onboarding pathways for new staff entering the hydrogen sector.
Training format and details
The CertifHy RFNBO Training for Economic Operators has been live for nearly two years and combines flexible asynchronous e-learning (8 hours) with a live Q&A Masterclass (2–3 hours). Participants benefit from two full years of access to all materials, allowing them to revisit modules as needed. Those unable to attend a specific session can join any quarterly Masterclass during their access period. Upon completion, participants receive the “CertifHy EU RFNBO Voluntary Scheme Practitioner” credential.
This partnership reflects the complementary strengths of both organisations and their joint commitment to equipping the hydrogen sector with the knowledge needed for a thriving, sustainable hydrogen economy.

About CertifHy: Founded in 2014, CertifHy is a frontrunner in the realm of renewable hydrogen and e-fuels’ certification, providing a comprehensive suite of tools to empower stakeholders engaged in the energy transition. It operates two schemes — the CertifHy EU Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) Voluntary Scheme and the CertifHy Non-Governmental Certification (NGC) Scheme — which aims to verify the sustainability and origin of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen and its derivatives. CertifHy also offers precertification, which familiarizes companies with the data collection and documentation processes required for official certification, and an in-house e-learning platform — CertifHy Academy — to equip Economic Operators and Certification Bodies with the expertise needed to navigate the complex landscape of hydrogen certification. It fosters collaboration through its Stakeholder Platform, which invites representatives of the industry, government, and academia to shape the future development of hydrogen certification systems. Together, CertifHy’s robust certification schemes and knowledge-building resources pave the way for a cleaner energy future.
