Enagás has completed Spain’s first hydrogen injection capacity allocation process, awarding 12.64 GWh per day of blending rights to 35 renewable hydrogen projects totalling approximately 900MW of electrolyser capacity — drawn from an oversubscribed field of 285 applications — giving each winner a two-year window to bring their facilities online.

The 35 selected projects represent 7.4% of Spain’s PNIEC hydrogen target for this first development phase, and the allocation is capped at 2% hydrogen by volume — a ceiling Enagás considers compatible with safe system operation — while the company simultaneously advances a €2.645 billion [$2.91bn] National Gas Network plan covering 2,600km of dedicated hydrogen pipelines across 13 autonomous communities.
