25 November 2025The European Commission has approved more than €600 million in new funding for 70 transport projects across the EU, with a strong focus on accelerating the shift to cleaner, more sustainable mobility.
The investment — delivered through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) — will support the installation of electric charging infrastructure, hydrogen refuelling stations and the electrification of ground operations at several major airports.
Sixteen airports will receive funding to upgrade their ground handling fleets and replace diesel-powered systems with electric alternatives. Beneficiary airports include Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart in Germany, Graz and Vienna in Austria, and Milan Linate and Malpensa in Italy.
