Main responsibilities : 

  • Contribute to developing and rolling out Hydrogen Europe’s strategy, positioning, and advocacy on current and future EU Energy issues, particularly with regards to clean hydrogen production, consumption and the required infrastructure.
  • In close coordination with Chief Policy Officer, you will manage the Energy and Infrastructure policy team; a team of policy officers focusing on policy development and advocacy towards EU institutions.
  • You will be responsible, together with your team, for managing four Working Groups in the fields of hydrogen production, storage and infrastructure development. You will be in charge of developing and drafting position papers with the industry, responding to public consultation and creating and nurturing alliances with strategic partners.
  • In close cooperation with the Chief Policy Officer and the CEO, you will lead the advocacy work towards EU institutions on the topics of renewable energy policy, infrastructure, storage, certification of green hydrogen, etc.
  • You will represent Hydrogen Europe externally, developing partnership with other like-minded stakeholders, participating and speaking at external events.
  • You will work closely with the Technologies & Market team to develop irrefutable arguments in favor of a faster uptake of clean hydrogen solutions that lead to decarbonization.
  • You will work closely with other policy team members whose focus is on mobility, trade, sustainability, industrial policy etc.

Requirements : 

  • University or advanced degree in Social Sciences, Political Sciences (EU studies, Political Science, International Relations), European law, or economics.
  • Degree in technical/scientific sciences if you have a passion for policy.
  • Over 7 years work experience in European affairs; knowledge and strong interest in the renewable energy sector with a passion for hydrogen is a plus.
  • Experience in Energy & Climate Policy.
  • Solid understanding of EU institutions and their workings as well as understanding of the current situation related to politics, economics and policy related to energy and climate.
  • A strong brussels-based network with experience in handling EU dossiers.
  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of other European languages an asset.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail.
  • Providing a high-quality service even when working under pressure.
  • Flexible, reliable, good team player with positive can-do attitude.
  • The candidate requires to be based in Brussels. Hydrogen Europe will require candidates to demonstrate that they have the right to live and work in Belgium.
