In your role as Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of funded design input, optimization and (mechanical) verification of our product design. You use your extensive experience with mathematical modelling of static and/or dynamic systems to give direction to the design and its optimization towards a safe, well performing and economically sound product. You play an important role in the specification and technical documentation of our assemblies, parts and pieces.

Other main responsibilities are:

  • Setup and optimize mathematical models to calculate the systems behavior and derive input for the design and production engineering teams.
  • Perform on the spot calculations and support the design and production engineers by explaining mechanical behavior and relations between outcome and the design parameters.
  • (Re-)Validate the design by running interface studies and optimize these.
  • Identify loads and quantify these for use in models, simulation and verification.
  • Define assembly instructions from a mechanical standpoint, e.g. torque values, compression ratios, alignment parameters, etc.
  • Support, guide and stimulate the junior staff.
  • Selecting and optimizing the best mechanical design for safety, performance and (material) efficiency.
  • Support value engineering projects.
  • Work out strategies to have scalable and sustainable solutions.
  • Start and support continuous improvement projects.
  • Support the initial quotation process.
  • Contributing to setting up D-FMEA studies and help find mitigating solutions for risks.
