ICIT - Institutul National de Cercetare-Dezvoltare pentru Tehnologii Criogenice si Izotopice - ICSI Rm.Valcea
The National Research and Development Institute for Cryogenic and isotopic Technologies - ICSI Rm. Valcea is a scientific research facility coordinated by the Ministry of National Education - Research Activity.
INC-DTCI-ICSI RM. Valcea was founded in 1970 as "G" Plant Rm. Valcea as an experimental industrial pilot plant. The research within this institute led to patenting of a technology for heavy water production and which contributed to the design of the ROMAG heavy water plant in Drobeta Turnu Severin. In 1991, the "G" plant was reorganized as Institute for Cryogeny and Isotopic Separation - ICSI Rm. Valcea. In 1996, ICSI Rm. Valcea was accredited as research and development unit of national interest.
In recent years, ICSI Rm. Valcea has developed an extensive internal program to promote scientific and technological innovation which aims to enhance the results through technological transfer and conduct activities according to society demands.
Romania is part of European Union trying to integrate into the European Research Area, therefore ICSI Rm. Valcea has as its main priority to increase the participation to Research and Development Programms of the European Community.
