NPL - National Physical Laboratory

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is the UK’s National Measurement Institute, and is a world-leading centre of excellence in developing and applying the most accurate measurement standards, science and technology available. NPL has been carrying out research into metrology for fuel cells since 2004 and is working closely with the emerging UK fuel cell industry to develop innovative in situ diagnostic techniques, advanced models and test methods to support more durable and cost effective fuel cell and electrolyser systems. NPL is also a key player in the field of hydrogen purity for fuel cell vehicles, providing traceable methods for accurately determining the levels of critical impurities in fuel cell hydrogen to support the growth of the hydrogen economy.
