31 July 2025UK-based start-up Paragon Resources and Siemens Energy have partnered in a bid to commercialise a hydrogen production method that reacts recycled aluminium with water in the presence of a catalyst.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the two companies plan to scale up the global deployment of Paragon’s hydrogen production technology, which reportedly doesn’t use electrolysis, electricity or fossil fuels.
Siemens Energy said the process yields hydrogen gas, aluminium hydroxide, which can be used in industrial applications, and heat, which can be converted into electricity. With no CO2 emissions, there is also no need for carbon capture technologies.
