EU-Australia trade deal removes tariffs on hydrogen and critical minerals
24 March 2026Uniper has received planning permission to build a 120MW green hydrogen project for supplying a refinery in the UK’s Humber region.
The Humber H2ub project at the German major’s existing Killingholme site is expected to begin operations by 2029.
It would supply Phillips 66’s nearby refinery, reducing its Scope 1 operational emissions, and is shortlisted for funding from the government’s second Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR2).
Set to undergo a front-end engineering design study by UK-based ITM Power, it could deploy six of the OEM’s 20MW electrolyser units to produce over 17,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year.
