Overview:
BOSS Energy is partnered with a leading Hydrogen producer who is expanding internationally, the position of Country Director is particularly important for the company as s/he deals with the launch, development and management of project(s) producing green hydrogen and e-fuels.

This position aims to:
• Strategy – To drive forward the country business strategy that embodies that values, vision, mission and objectives of the business and ensure it is being delivered in all areas of the company’s work, with new and existing partners.
• Impact – To ensure that the business is making significant positive impact for the national and international renewable industry and ensuring that the processes of business development, planning, implementation as well as monitoring and evaluation are robust.
• Finance – To ensure that the financial management of the business In country is accountable and transparent at every level, and that all employees are fully aware and able to comply with then global Finance Policy.

The key functions of the Country Director include:
• Leadership.

Leadership:
• Demonstrating clearly a personal drive for making green hydrogen and e-fuels available and competitive throughout all work and ensure they lead by example in representing the business, mission, vision and objectives.
• Leading the delivery of the country business strategy so that all staff in the country are living the company’s values and achieving the vision, mission and objectives of, as well as supporting the overall corporate strategy.
• Leading the country management team (which includes also project manager(s)) in making key decisions regarding the implementation of the strategy and overall direction of the business in the country.
• Leading the team in agreeing on the modalities for projects planning, finance and monitoring, evaluation.
• Leading the country team in all work activities ensuring the engagement of all staff members at the highest priority in the delivery of the projects.

Governance:
• Regularly updating and involving the Board of Directors in the work, progress and challenges of the business.
• Reporting to the Directors on a regular basis against company strategy, targets and budget and ensure that the country team complies with the high standards of probity and good governance.
• Ensuring that company subsidiaries operate within the terms and conditions of all legal frameworks of the host countries.

Business development:
• Developing and leading sectoral and client business and marketing plans with a typical horizon of 1 to 5 years; Participating in the drafting of client acquisition strategy and ensuring its effective implementation.
• Adjudicating the inclusion of new opportunity in the project pipeline.
• Increase the overall income of the country team by securing new funding of projects through in country and external funding initiatives.
• Identifying technical funding gaps, and take action to fill them wherever possible through recruitment and/or using external support team.
• Establishing, developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with the national and local Governments, and other key relevant stakeholders identified in the partnership strategy.
• Establishing and maintaining key partnerships with in-country and international investors.

Program management:
• Ensuring that robust systems of planning and delivering projects are in place and implemented, from conceptualization to delivery and evaluation.
• With Project Manager(s), ensuring that project performance is monitored regularly and compared to objectives, targets, deliverables and budget.
• Ensuring that the planning, delivery and evaluation of projects comply with investors/donors’ expectations and the terms of investors/donors’ contracts, and that reporting to investors/donors is of the highest standards.
• Ensuring that projects’ monitoring data is regularly reviewed at periodical projects’ management meetings, that learning from the data is maximized, and changes are made accordingly to project implementation strategies to increase efficiency and impacts.
• Ensuring projects are able to clearly demonstrate the efficiency and impacts of their work through annual assessments, and promoting and disseminating the lessons learned to partner companies/organizations (especially within the framework of EU Innovation Fund and/or IPCEI if and when required).
• Using the learning and achievement of projects to develop new project proposals, ensuring that relevant staff members are involved in the process.

Performance management:
• Facilitating projects’ monitoring meetings to discuss progress against objectives and workplan with each line report, reviewing areas of success and weakness or areas requiring further support.
• Ensuring staff job descriptions deliver the organizational strategic objectives; Monitoring staff performance and complete performance reviews.

Financial management:
• Conjunction with the CFO, implementing a robust internal control environment, including sounds policies and procedures that safeguard staff and the assets of company and funding partners (investors and donors), and that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the company.
• Evaluating and making necessary changes to the company cost base with a view to ensuring the greatest impacts and value for money.
• Ensuring that established policies and procedures on HR, administration, finance and project implementation are understood by all staff, implemented and regularly reviewed.
• Ensuring that subsidiary and projects comply with funding partners (investors and donors) Terms and conditions agreements, and budget thresholds.
• Carrying out routine periodically spot checks on petty cash, purchase orders, asset registers and other supporting documentation.

Risk management:
• Overseeing internal quality and cost control checks for all in-country projects; leading cost and quality issue resolutions.
• Overseeing projects’ implementation and resources and chairing country project management team meetings.
• Overseeing dispute, negotiation, arbitration and litigation, as needed

Human resources:
• In conjunction with the COO, ensuring that country team is fully staffed with the best people for each position.
