BOSS Energy are looking for a Director of Capital Projects to successfully lead the FEL1 – 3 of a commercial demo project in collaboration with the internal R&D, Business, and eventually EPC partners to develop, scope, cost, finalize and then execute the commercial demonstration plant project.

You’ll be a part of a well backed business building projects in the range if $100k – $100m and will have full responsibility to develop the Houston basedpilot project and lead the commercial scale production units, having a direct impact on company success and be a huge part of the company going forward.
This position is remote with 50% travel required.
Reporting to VP of Operations you will:
- Manage capital engineering projects through the various Phases.
- Be responsible for project objectives, schedule, and budget delivery, including capital engineering projects for process scale up, and internally focused improvement projects as required.
- Build and lead effective project teams in order to deliver exceptional results on assigned projects.
- Develop and execute project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources.
- Manage external engineering and construction resources for project design, and execution.
- Oversee detailed planning of projects leveraging both internal and external resources.
- Collaborate with various groups such as R&D, operations, safety to define and deliver project scope.
- Develop and maintain Project Management framework, for consistency on capital projects and for use by other team members in smaller engineering projects to improve overall company effectiveness in project management.
- Mentor and support engineering project team members to deliver project objective success and team member development, including project management skills aligned to created project management framework.
- Manage project budget including funding approval and releases as required.
- Oversee commissioning of new systems or installations to ensure the successful start up of the project.
- Manage and prioritize a backlog of Mid-Cap projects.
- Oversee development of work packages for projects to include: drawings, schedule, budget outline, etc. Develop and maintain technical and project documentation.
- Effective handover of project to operations personnel.
- Deliver cost and schedule savings identified through project alternative comparison and proactive risk mitigation and impact management.
- Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders internally and externally to drive project success; through the use of project reporting framework and OKRs.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering and 10+ years of related work experience.
- 5+ years of Project management experience specifically in industrial or chemical plants. Value ranging from $10MM to $100MM.
- Experience managing pilot plant projects.
- Experience managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
- Estimating/cost experience on projects.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with MS Office, MS Project, or other similar project management software.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to multitask in fast paced environment with competing deadlines.
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and/or Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP) Experience.
- Project Management Program (PMP) certificate preferred.
