H2SITE achieves 99% pure H2 from natural gas blends in Spanish network
1 March 2024€1m Horizon Europe grant to boost H2 valley in Alentejo, Portugal
4 March 2024Three Italian industrials are among the partners of the European HyTecHeat project, financed by the European Union – through the Horizon Europe program – with 3.3 million euros and aimed at developing the use of hybrid technologies, based on H2, for the production of steel with low CO2 emissions.
In particular, the objective is to reduce the environmental impact of the production process in the thermal treatment and heating phases, still exclusively based on natural gas, by increasing the percentage of low carbon hydrogen used in these processes with a view to increasingly virtuous hybridization of the two resources.
As part of the project, Tenova will install a hydrogen production and storage system at its site in Castellanza (Varese Province, Italy), which will be used to experimentally refuel H2-ready burners with a mixture of hydrogen and methane. The storage facility will be operated by Snam, and De Nora will provide a 1 MW Dragonfly electrolyzer, the latest generation system used for the first time in the European initiative.
