4 January 2024Applicants shortlisted for $2B Hydrogen Headstart
8 January 2024Alstom has received an order for two Coradia Stream hydrogen trains from transport operator Ferrovie del Sud Est (FSE).
Set to be deployed in Italy, within the Puglia region, the locomotives will replace the existing diesel trains in use.
Alstom has also signed a second order for two further hydrogen trains with Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM), on top of the six trains already on order within the existing framework, which allows for the acquisition of 14 trains in total.
Manufactured by Alstom in Italy, the trains are based on the single-deck Coradia Stream regional platform, however they produce no direct carbon dioxide emissions in operation and feature several innovations in clean energy conversion, such as efficient energy supply. The project is part of the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) programme and funded by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU.
