1 March 2023Técnicas Reunidas has been awarded an engineering contract for a 2GW green hydrogen project in Aragon, Spain.
In the first installation the plant will have 500MW of electrolyser capacity, with plans for the site to be expanded to 2GW in 2027 to supply green hydrogen to large industrial consumers on the Mediterranean coast.
Under the engineering contract, Técnicas Reunidas will study the configuration of the plant, prepare relevant technical documentation to obtain permits, and complete cost estimations.
Dubbed Catalina, the project was announced 12 months ago (February 2022) by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Enagás, Naturgy, Fertiberia, and Vestas, with construction scheduled to kick off at the end of this year (2023).
