17 May 2024On 14 May, the EU Delegation to Namibia and its member states hosted Europe Day under the inspiring theme: Year of Skills at the EU Residence in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city. The celebration was attended by among others, the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Hon. Jenelly Matundu, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society, development partners and friends of Europe.
Europe Day highlighted the strong 34 years of EU-Namibia cooperation, focusing on inclusive green growth and sustainable development. Emphasising on joint efforts to fight climate change, Ambassador Martins said: “The EU sets itself the ambitious goal of becoming the first climate neutral continent by 2050, while Namibia embarks on its path for a green industrialisation. This shared objective of accelerating sustainable and inclusive green growth is at the core of the EU-Namibia Partnership. And Namibia is a true ally when it comes to advancing the transition to a green and just economy.”
