Brief Introduction:

An exciting role within the Hydrogen Asset Development team. The role will manage the commercial aspects of multiple low-carbon hydrogen projects across our core regions and is responsible for their execution (especially establishing contractual relationships with, and administration of, major sub-contractors).

You will manage the claims management process work closely with specialist procurement, legal and claims management support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Your responsibilities include offering daily assistance to the General Project Managers across various H2 projects, encompassing the tendering, negotiation, award, and oversight of engineering services contracts (such as Feasibility Studies, FEED, License Agreements, etc.).
  • Familiarity with standard Contract forms and UK/EU contract law is expected.
  • You’ll engage in the tendering, negotiation, and award processes of execution phase contracts (EPC, EPCm, etc.) to ensure sound financial decisions for the projects.
  • You’ll be entrusted to directly or, depending on delegations of authority, recommend contractually binding commitments involving significant financial sums. These decisions often occur within short timeframes and under pressure, necessitating defense to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Navigating ambiguous scenarios requiring nuanced judgment, potentially with long-term and legal consequences, will be part of your routine.
  • You will take the lead, supported by the Technical Project Manager and GPM, in addressing contract variations/disputes.
  • You will concurrently support multiple Hydrogen projects and should be available to work at project sites when necessary for subcontractor management.

Desired Experience:

  • Extensive background in navigating commercial and contractual landscapes, particularly in support of intricate technical projects.
  • Proven ability to cultivate trustworthy relationships with colleagues across technical, financial, procurement, and legal domains.
  • Familiarity with project management principles, processes, and tasks.
  • Possession of an MBA and/or Technical Degree, or a demonstrable “qualification by experience.”
  • In-depth comprehension of the intricate interplay between technical, economic, and contractual aspects in projects, encompassing various contracting types.
  • Proficient in English with a professional command.
  • Capable of operating autonomously and effectively under pressure.
  • Personal integrity and adeptness at fostering collaborations within the broader organizational context.
  • A creative, open-minded individual with a fresh perspective and superb communication abilities.
  • Experience working within the energy, oil and gas or petrochemical industry
