Plasma Physicist
BOSS Energy Consulting
Founded in 2014, BOSS Energy Consulting LTD is an established zero-carbon, renewable recruitment business. Our services cover established, growing and emerging energies associated with the generation, distribution and use of carbon-free energy. Our offices in London, Amsterdam and Singapore provide clients and candidates a recruitment service that taps into the global energy market, but at the same times feels local. Our networks, regional consultants and unrivalled knowledge allows us to access global talent whilst remaining attentive to domestic values and customs. The energy industry is undergoing a seismic shift towards a carbon neutral and sustainable future.
Looking for a PhD in Plasma Physics. As part of the technical team, you will have to work on a multi-physics simulation model on methane decomposition thanks to microwave plasma. This work will be done in parallel with lab experiments including the use of electrostatic and optical diagnosis methods.
You will work in close cooperation with people from the R&D and Design Office dpt, along with industrial and academic external partners.
TASKS:
Multi-physics modelling:
- Implementation of a database of the potential chemical reactions inside a methane plasma at atmospheric pressure.
- Coupling between electromagnetic waves and gas flow: plasma generation.
- Energy transfer inside the plasma.
- Hydrogen and carbon black generation.
Experiments:
- Piloting of experiments on a test bench in order to better understand the methane decomposition reaction.
- Electrostatic and optical characterization of plasmas at atmospheric pressure.
- Results analyse and validation.
- Correlation between experimental data and the model.
- Information display (reports, presentations, publications).
Requirements:
- PhD degree in the field of plasma physics.
- Significative experience in modelling and experimentation (mini 5 years).
- English written and spoken (B2 minimum).
- Knowledge of plasma chemical kinetics near atmospheric pressure.
- Ability to implement a multi-physics model on chemical decomposition and carbon forming.
- COMSOL tool.
This job is not remote – Requires on site in FRANCE
