A tier-1 supplier/manufacturer of fuel cells, dispensing units, and storage, compression, and flow systems is seeking a growth candidate with 3+ years of experience in automotive quality systems with specific competencies in Problem Solving, Process Control and Root Cause Analysis, APQP/PPAP and QMS Development. Additional experience with ISO 9001, 2015/IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 Quality Systems implementation strongly desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of operational procedures and instructions in accordance with ISO 9001:2015/IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Co-ordinate and prepare Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages per AIAG guidelines for submission to customers.
  • Support APQP process and work within the Product Development team for new program launches and major product design changes.
  • Perform dimensional inspections, capability studies, Gauge R&R studies, and audits as needed to support quality concerns, APQP and PPAP.
  • Lead corrective action teams by utilizing 8D and other quality tools and processes to identify the root cause of a problem and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement projects for products and processes.
  • Facilitate training related to quality and develop training material as required.
  • Review fixture designs to ensure that parts are properly located in accordance with the GD&T and that the fixtures pass required variable data and attribute checks in accordance with specifications.
  • Review and analyse CMM layout reports and recommend changes as required.
  • Assist with the design of experiments and DVP&R when required.
  • Plan and perform internal process audits.
  • Contributes to a safe, clean, and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.
  • Evaluation of customer warranty returns.
  • Systematic quality monitoring of target KPI’s
  • Support resolution of external Audit results to compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement activities for safety, quality, and productivity.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years in automotive manufacturing environment as Quality Engineer or Quality Supervisor
  • Minimum 1 year experience in APQP / Supplier Development
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), Significant Characteristics (SC), customer-specific requirements and various test methods.
  • Capable of performing gage R&R studies
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio and MINTAB
  • Basic AIAG and related quality system knowledge of ISO 9001, 2015/IATF 16949, and ISO 14001,
  • Basic understanding of CMM methods / process
  • Able to maintain confidentiality on products, services, and processes.
