At the Leadership Summit of Dii Desert Energy, Professor Ad van Wijk shared his ideas in the future of energy systems. According to the Professor, ‘from the total energy that the world needs, 10% of the Sahara Desert with solar cells is sufficient to produce all that energy’.

Hydrogen will be key to transport the electricity from the production areas to the demand and bring it at the right time. The professor also stated that ‘technology is not a problem’, scaling-up electrolysis will decrease the prices of hydrogen production as it happened with solar cells. ‘The problem is that we have to be very bolt in our policies to make a change.’
